How We Picked the Top 10 PG Medical Colleges in Telangana

Choosing the Top 10 PG Medical Colleges is about more than just reputation; it’s also about facts and figures. Here’s the specific method we used:

1) Updated Seat Matrix (2024-25):
We used the official KNRUHS Telangana PG seat matrix, which provides 2,785 total PG seats in the state:

  • Government quota (KNRUHS): 1,422
  • All-India Quota (AIQ): 622
  • Management quota (private colleges): 741 seats.

Only colleges with the greatest PG intake (100 seats or more) were considered for this top-10 list.

2) Seat strength is the core metric

Patient volume, clinical exposure, and speciality availability all have a significant impact on postgraduate education. A larger seat count usually represents:

  • Expanded speciality options (MD/MS).
  • Additional patients and clinical cases.
  • Stronger faculty distribution across departments

For example, Osmania Medical College leads our ranking with 489 PG seats, which is roughly four times the intake of smaller private colleges.

3)  We cross-checked with NIRF 2025 (Medical) rankings to confirm the college’s academic/research profile matches its seat strength. For example, Osmania is ranked 48th nationwide in the NIRF 2025.

Colleges with fewer than 70 PG seats were omitted from the Top 10 to ensure a consistent data-backed comparison.

Here are the TOP 10 colleges in Telangana:

With roughly 12 spots available, the institution began accepting postgraduate students in 2022 in courses including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, and community and family medicine.

Students must pass the INI-CET and finish their MBBS with an internship in order to be admitted. Clinical disciplines such as general medicine and radiodiagnosis have been added in recent years, and the cutoffs are quite competitive (for instance, radiodiagnosis closed around rank 113 in 2024 for the general category).

The institute is a solid option for postgraduate medical education, as it has been approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is expanding steadily with improved facilities and additional seats.
