Karnataka NEET Counselling Process 2024

KEA NEET Counselling is the process by which the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) helps students get admission to medical and dental colleges in Karnataka using NEET scores. This counselling happens online on the KEA website, www.kea.kar.nic.in. or https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/

KEA Eligibility Criteria:

NEET Qualification: Applicants must pass the NEET-UG exam and have a valid score.

Domicile: Candidates must be Karnataka residents or have completed a set number of years of schooling there.

Registration and Payment of Fee:

  1. Online Registration:  Candidates are required to register online within the designated registration period on the official KEA website.
  2. Document Verification:  Following registration, candidates must go to the approved verification locations to have their documents verified.
  3. Payment of Fee:  The registration and payment of the fee for Karnataka state NEET Counselling process should be online.

Document Verification:

  1. KEA Online Verification:  The document verification process was conducted offline at the KEA office till the year 2023, from the year 2024, KEA has decided to not conduct offline verification.
  2. Mistakes in Online Verification Lead to Rejection:  Candidates should be very careful as there is only online verification and any mistakes done during this stage cannot be corrected and can lead to rejection of application.
  3. Required documents for KEA NEET Counselling Process: 
  • NEET UG Admit Card
  • NEET UG Scorecard
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Category Certificate
  • PwD Certificate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Identification Proof
  • Passport Size Photographs
  • Any Other Relevant Certificates: (if applicable).
  • Declaration Form: You need to sign a form from KEA confirming that all your information is true.

Merit List:

  • After the document verification process, a provisional merit list will be released by the KEA authority.
  • The final merit will again be released on the website by the KEA authority.
  • Only candidates whose names appear on the final merit list will be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

Choice filling:

  1. Choice of Colleges/Courses: Candidates can choose their preferred colleges and courses online based on their NEET rank.
  2. Choice Locking: After selecting the colleges and courses, candidates need to lock their choices to finalize them.
  3. One Choice Across All Rounds: It can be done only once in the first round of counseling and the same choices will be carried forward for further rounds.

Seat allotment:

  1. Mock Allotment: KEA does a mock seat allotment to show candidates what seat they might get with their choices. 
  2. Real Allotment: After the mock round, seats are allocated based on NEET rank, chosen preferences, and seat availability.
  3.  Seat Allotment Rounds in KEA Counseling: Seats will be allotted in the 3 rounds of KEA counseling: 1st round, 2nd round, and mop-up rounds. If there are any seats vacant after the mop-up round, a special stray round may be conducted where candidates have to pay a deposit of Rs. 50,000.
